Robins!

Slightly breezier conditions through the morning nonetheless produced an excellent arrival of birds but unlike yesterday there was very little variety in the birds present around the station!   The most obvious feature of the day were the 200+ Robins in the garden, of which we managed to ring 152; the day's ringing total was 164 birds which shows how few other birds accompanied the Robins - three Chiffchaffs, three Goldcrests, two Dunnocks and single Song Thrush, Wren, Blackbird and Chaffinch the other species ringed.

With a lack of anything else to photograph - here's a Robin!

Being very busy with the ringing through the morning there was little time to look around so other observations were limited although 300+ Barnacle Geese moved along the coast and a flock of Cranes were heard but not seen.
A walk in the afternoon produced the first Wheatear of the year near the front field, a Red Kite which thought about heading south and of course lots more Robins with every garden, hedge or clump of bushes holding at least a couple!
